Mount Alam-Kuh is the second highest peak in Iran, after Mount Damavand. Alborz Mountain Range is home to this beautiful mountain. In the intersection of Mazandaran Province and not far from the Caspian Sea, in the town of Kelardasht, this rocky mountain stands tall. It is famous for its granite wall with an expansion of 600 m on the north face.
We drive from Tehran to Kelardasht Town via Chalus Road. The route is mysterious and breathtaking with a portrait of untouched nature. We will have lunch in the town. After lunch, we start driving to Roodabarak Village, where we go and unpack in the Federation Mountain Camp in Vandarbon Village. The altitude here is 2200m.
The day starts with some off-roading adventure. We reach the altitude of 2800 m in Tang-e Galu. Here lies Alamkuh Base Camp. We start hiking for 2 hours to reach Hesarchal Plateau. We are currently at 3700 m next to the beautiful lake of Hesarchal. Iranians refer to this location as the replica of paradise and Eden. After lunch, we move forward to reach the peak of Lashkarak (Lashgarak) at 4250 m. Before sunset, we start descending down to reach the southern base camp.
Today we are going to visit a natural glacier. We start trekking early in the morning to reach Alamchal. Here you can witness the intersection of mountains and sky in the north face. To make our return circuit much more comfortable, we elevate to the altitude of 4550 m, in Marjikosh Mount. With the help of this elevation, our return is much easier. We head down to the southern base camp and drive back to Tehran. A transfer will take you to your hotel or airport depending on the time of return.
Note: Optional hiking around Damavand Base Camp is available
