Mount Damavand is the highest volcano peak in Asia. Mazandaran province is home to this beautiful stratovolcano. It is not far from Tehran, and you can easily have a view of it from any stand-point in Tehran. For Iranians, it is the symbol of nature. In Persian mythology, it is the most valued landscape.
We have hiking and adventure, so let’s start with short treks. We drive from Tehran to Polur (Polour), which takes approximately 3 hours. The famous Haraz river is passing through this town. We will go off-roading on dirt. It takes almost 2 hours to reach the altitude of 2500 m in the South Face. Then the hiking starts for 8 hours.
Breath as much as you can, this is the fresh air. We start from the Western slope and continue North to reach the altitude of 3300 m. The steep trail of Dagh Plain is the next stop. The hills reach 3650 m above sea level. From there, we ascend down to Nandal Plain in the North. Nandal village is the base camp of Damavand. This exciting journey has 10 hours of exercise and hiking.
The base camp offers a unique chance to visitors who love to observe nature. From here you can see Damavand peak and walk around the village. We will have our lunch here. Then, we drive back to Tehran via the town of Haraz. A transfer will take you to your hotel and you can rest.
Note: Optional hiking around Damavand Base Camp is available
