How to get an Iranian Visa?

There are a few things you need to consider before getting your Iranian Visa. So we’ve pulled together all the info you’ll need to make it as easy as possible!

What do I need to know about Iranian Visas?

  • If you have dual nationality, you’ll need to announce your nationality. This information must be visible on your travel documents and passport.
  • If the nationality printed on your visa doesn’t match the nationality printed on your passport, the application will be declined.
  • You may not be granted a visa unless your passport is valid for at least six months.
  • Make sure you start your application at least 90 days before your flight – particularly if you’re an American, Canadian, or UK citizen.
  • Please make sure your photo meets all the requirements. Your photo is a vital part of your visa application

Required visit visa for tourists of all nationalities except for the following:

Azerbaijan – 14 days

I’m Jewish, can I travel to Iran?

  • If you’re from Israel or have an Israel stamp in your passport, you cannot visit Iran.
  • However, if you’re Jewish and visiting from another country, you can visit Iran. Iran has 15000 Jewish people living alongside Muslims, Christians, and other religions.

I’m American, how can I travel to Iran?

  • If you’re visiting from the USA, Canada, or the UK – you can only come to Iran through tours, and you must always be with your registered tour guide.
  • The Iranian Government encourages this to allow Americans and visitors from other parts of the world to have the best experience possible, to explore this free and safe country.

How can I get an Iranian VOA? (Visa on arrival)

  • All visitors can get a visa on arrival (VOA) except the following:

    1. Passport holders from; Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Canada, Colombia, India, Iraq, Jordan, Pakistan, Somalia, UK, and the USA.
    2. If you are a journalist/reporter on a job.
    3. Applicants whose applications for Iranian Visa have been previously rejected.
    4. Iranians who hold foreign passports but still maintain their Iranian nationality.

    Tip – it’s best to avoid long visa lines after a flight with your authorization code (Application ID).

How much does a VOA cost?

  • The price of an Iranian visa on arrival can vary from €10 to €150! This will depend on your nationality.

Can I get a VOA on land and sea borders?

  • If you’re crossing land borders or coming to Iran by ship, you will need to arrange your visa in advance.

How do I travel to Iran from India?

  • It’s a smooth and secure process to visit Iran from India, so you don’t need to worry about your visa.
  • Mahan Air, IranAir, Qatarairways, and Emirates have frequent flights to Iran. The Iranian Government has active consulate and visa offices in India.
