What is the Iranian Language?
1. Persian is the official language of Iran. Persian is also called Farsi.
2. The origin of the Persian language dates back to 550-330 B.CE, and it was used by the Parsa people who ruled Iran.
3. Farsi and Dari both are Persian. Farsi is the name given to the Persian language in Iran. Dari is the Persian language name in Afghanistan. Farsi and Dari are mutually intelligible, despite differences in pronunciation and grammar. Farsi can be understood by a Dari speaker whether spoken or written.
4. Seven more languages are recognized regional languages in Iran: Azerbaijani, Kurdish, Lori, Mazandarani, Gilaki, Balochi, and Arabic.
5. You can speak Persian itself in Iran and much of Afghanistan and parts of Central Asia like Tajikistan and be perfectly understood. Pahlavi or Middle Persian (Dari) is the Persian language that is a direct link between ancient Persian and modern Persian, which later became the modern Persian.
6. Persian was used for religious texts. The majority of Persian religious literature is related to Zoroastrianism and Islam. There are also Persian Manuscripts with Christian, Jewish, and Manichaean texts. An important part of Baha’i sacred texts was also composed originally in Persian.
7. Persian has a very particular grammar. There are no genders and no articles.
8. Persian has a very rich literary tradition. It includes many artistic and written expressions, poetry, books, documentaries. The work that deserves credit for its influence over not only Persian arts & Language but over the language itself is the “Shahnameh.” The English name of this book is ” the great epic of the Kings,” written by the great Persian poet Ferdowsi Tusi.
9. Artistic expressions using the Persian language are not just limited to literature. There are also expressions through Calligraphy. The history of Calligraphy starts approx during the 7th Century after the adoption of Arabic script, but some say it could’ve even started centuries before.
In classical Arabic, especially in the first centuries of the Islamic era, they called Persian “Lesan al-Ajam” and called the Iranian people “Ajami” and sometimes also “Ajami.”

What is difference between Arabic and Farsi?
The current Persian writing system is an Arabic script. This Arabic was changed from the Kofi script. The Persian writing system has four extra letters of پ, ژ, گ, and چ.
