The term Kooch Neshinan refers to Iranian Nomads. Traveling around in communities, these tribes drift through Iran’s extraordinary nature.
There is no fixed habitation for Nomads, and such a lifestyle depends on herding. The tribe moves with families, belongingness, and animals. Nomadism (Kooch Neshini) requires constant migration from East to West and North to South.
During hot summer days, they prefer the colder countryside (Yeylagh) as the destination of migration. When winter comes, Nomads shift their journey to the warmer countryside (Gheshlagh).
Every year Iran is host to many travelers. They are planning to visit one of the unique attractions of the 21st century. But why is this tour unique and unforgettable?
For a day, you are part of Nomads’ tribe. You will experience migration, lifestyle, and you will take part in cooking and animal herding. Isn’t it fun?
Quick fact: together we prepare food over a wood stove and the dairy products are fresh daily.
A cultural yet straightforward journey with one of the main tribes of Iran. Qashqai herdsmen are known for their long cloaks and colorful kerchiefs. Wandering with their livestock, searching for a seasonal land to settle. You will witness most of the men taking care of animals while women are in charge of dairy products and creating artistry masterpieces. Persian Kilims (flatweaves), Jajims, Runners and Rugs are just a few handcrafted souvenirs that you may find. Boys and girls playing, singing folk songs, and taking care of lighter chorus.
Quick fact: did you know that Qashqai herdsmen sign the first tribal cooperative?
Your day will get more and more special if you’re lucky enough to be part of the wedding. That’s true! The ceremony is traditional. It starts with music and folk dance and continues with competitions in wrestling and horse riding. As the sun sets, we will move to our shelters. You will witness a long and black tent, hand-woven from goat wool sheets. This is Siah Chador. In this black tent, fresh food is available, and you will rest until the sun rises. In the dawn, the ray of light opens the horizon over the mountain to conclude your exceptional journey.
Qashqai poem: like a butterfly dancing around the light and my presence is void
a friend asks of my pep I reply I am in love and all is void
Starting from Shiraz, after a short drive, you will join Qashqai tribesmen. A journey begins deep in the heart of culture and spirituality. You eat, you laugh, you cook and you watch the genuine nature from the black tent.
Note: suggested time of the tour is between April and late October
